On the 20-year anniversary of his groundbreaking masterpiece Roger & Me, Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story comes home to the issue he’s been examining throughout his career: the disastrous impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans (and by default, the rest of the world). But this time the culprit is much bigger than General Motors, and the crime scene far wider than Flint, Michigan. From Middle America, to the halls of power in Washington, to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan, Michael Moore will once again take film goers into uncharted territory.

America is so polarized right now that the general population just don’t know in what to believe. It seems like there are no trustworthy people on each side ( be it democrats/republicans, government/business, etc). It is really a mess when there’s no AND options (only the OR options are “available). Is capitalism per se evil? Is socialism per se evil? Is a blend of the two twice as evil? How about some common sense (uncommon sense?) for a change?
Oh so no socialists have ever limited personal freedoms… not Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Castro, Hugo Chvez, etc? Oh no that’s crazy. All of those people were champions of personal freedoms.Let’s even look at past Progressive US Presidents… Woodrow Wilson had over 100,000 political prisoners, FDR locked up thousands of legal Japanese American citizens… oh yeah you socialists love personal freedoms…Learn some history.
Maybe the problem with Americans is about the concept of “good” and “evil”. Everyone is brought up thinking that there are these all evil entities that are out to get us… they are out there! With such a mentality, it is of course the entire population is easily manipulated and rallied against illusional and sometimes false “evil” enemies… Communism, socialism, monarchies and other systems of govt are as evil and good as Capitalism. It just depends on who is running it. Nothing is “evil”
i’m not happy with my favourite soccer star getting payed millions, unless he gives it all off to somewhere worthwhile. which he generally doesnt.
yeah but ‘great things’ means sitting at a desk bullshitting people, Fred Hollows does great things, not the bloke in the new york penthouse.
capitalism sucks—-lets convert to communism !!!! MICHEL MOORE IS A DOUCHEBAG COMMIE WHO BLAMES THE WRONG PEOPLE—CAPITALISM IS NOT THE PROBLEM –THE CORRUPT GOVERMENT IS THE PROBLEM—-WAKE UP STUPID SHEEPLE—UNPLUG FROM THE MATRIX AND DONT LISTEN TO COMMIE DOUCHEBAGS MORONS LIKE THIS GUY
Corporations employ millions of people and GIVE them free healthcare included with their employment. Bingo
do you even know what communism is, without asking google or wiki?. probably not …but!!! I have to admit, you are right about the capitalism, it’s the goverment which is the problem. and of course the CEO’s n garbage like that.
This has to be the dumbest movie concept ever and proves just how deceitful the left is when it comes to economics. The movie does not distinguish “corporatism” from “capitalism”. Capitalism is “free markets” and is based on competition. Corporatism is the fusing of government and private enterprise to drive out competition. Regulated oligopoly. Moore, who knows the difference, attacks capitalism and then shows examples of corporatism, dishonestly calling it “capitalism”. Very dishonest!
FAIL!
monopoly was a problem in communism, and is a problem in capitalism after seeing this film. Thats why this movie is important.
Forget your intellectual masturbation. You are as clueless as well. The terms you mention are not central to the current financial crisis. The “isms” don’t matter. The central question is: who is doing it to us? Answer: The Feds. Now go do your reserve on the history of the Federal Reserve Board, and how it came into being.
typo: do your research …
Mottahead: You are right, “you don’t know in what to believe.” Blame is on the Feds. Democrat or Republican? It doesn’t matter, because either one would be used depending on the planned agenda or objective. Two party system is practical with 50-50 opportunity for failure only. Forget the “isms’ because if you don’t know it yet, the former USSR was an experiment or creation of American capitalism. Surprised? He, he, he. Go ask Ben Bernanke.
i gave u a thumbs up jus for “Forget your intellectual masturbation” haha brilliant
You’re a complete idiot.! The Fed is part of corporatism! It is the central bank charted by the government. That is corporatism by definition, the fusing of government and corporations, retard! You don’t even understand the concept! Lean the basic concepts and don’t waste my time with your uneducated crap. You’re comment has to be without a doubt the dumbest comment I have ever read on YouTube.
If you think that phrase is brilliant you’re just as stupid. Where do they grow hateful idiots like the two of you?
correction: No go do your homework ….
Folks do not do their homework, but I am willing to do it for them. lol.
I am not hateful. In fact, I would like to be friends with you and discuss about these issues, or other issues you are interested in. Thanks.
@tubewog – Ok, I am not a fan of Republicans or Democrats either. I am an accountant and was trained in economics in addition to accounting. The definition of “corporatism” is the fusing of large corporations with the government. Corporations use the government to create barriers of entry to minimize competition, protect markets and control resources. The Federal Reserve is an example of Corporatism since it is a private entity given its monopoly power as central bank by the Federal Gov.
@tubewog – When I studied Accounting, the professors all talked about the insanity of not being about to audit “The Fed”. I am glad to see Ron Paul’s leadership with HR1207. The Fed created much of our economic problems by artificially holding down interest rates and pumping liquidity into the markets. This causes artificial inflationary pressures, increasing prices (the economy on steroids) and increasing production in those sectors, which then bust because the liquidity cannot be sustained.
That’s a pretty sweet add.
I am reading all your comments and input. Don’t think you are being ignored. Thanks.
I recommend this movie to every American who wants to be aware of whats going on in his country. This great nation needs your awareness and action right now !!!
lol……a masterpiece like only Mike can make (^_^)
I would too but the fucking conservatives just won’t listen.
